  Short description of my ailment to the receptionist and showing my EHIC card got me a numbered ticket in the queue. 30 mins wait and I was seen by staff, the diagnosis meant more work than they (and me) wanted at that time, so I was patched for a return to UK.

  I have Spanish nationality because of my Mother and living in Mijas since July never thought I’ll have that experience here : I had to call emergency last Sunday - had fever 38.8 , couldn’t breath and after while started vomiting and they told me they couldn’t get me only if I pay for the petrol !! My daughter in law helped me and my son had to leave his job earlier to take me into this Centro de Salud - the doctor said I had fever , gave me paracetamol , fluids , after 30 min he told me to go home and relax because I was anxious . I was barely breathing , coughing , weak ,and he treatead me as nothing . Next day I went to the hospital consulting with a REAL doctor he told me because of the fever and after listening my chest he saud I should have an X-ray , afterall had chest infeccion .I’m in bed but no pain thank God the medication is working .

  But I keep thinking , that doctor in this Centre that saw me at 11:30 pm , is he really a doctor ? How come a person like that , cold , arrogant and stupid can help people with health problems ?

  Had the unfortunate need to see a doctor whilst on holiday in Mijas and came here. I took my passport and ehic card which was photocopied and accepted without any problem or question. Wait was the same as a walk in centre in the UK and was fine for the time of day. Doctor could not speak English however a male nurse helped and Google translate was a godsend. Despite this the doctor was lovely and I was extremely grateful to be treated and out of pain.

  Quick and adequate services, the environment can, however, feel a bit like a slaughterhouse.
